From the Mountains to Times Square: ALS United Rocky Mountain Goes National
This May, in honor of ALS Awareness Month, ALS United members and ALS United Rocky Mountain made our presence known on one of the world’s biggest stages—Times Square in New York City. Amid the rush of bright lights and towering billboards, our message stood tall: ALS Awareness matters. Every story matters. Every life matters.

Having a spot in Times Square is about more than visibility—it’s about making noise for a community that often feels unseen. For those living with ALS and their families, every moment counts. By placing our message in the heart of one of the busiest cities in the world, we’re reminding people that the fight against ALS is urgent, ongoing, and deeply human.
This was not just an ad. It was a tribute. A call to action. A declaration that hope, courage, and community are stronger than the silence this disease tries to create.
ALS Awareness Matters
ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a progressive and currently incurable disease that affects the nerve cells responsible for muscle movement. It can rob a person of their ability to walk, speak, eat, and breathe—but it does not touch their mind, heart, or spirit.
Awareness is the first step in fighting ALS. It leads to funding. It leads to research. It leads to better care and more compassionate communities. It leads to change.
Advocacy in Action
Our appearance in Times Square is just one part of a larger mission. Across Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, ALS United Rocky Mountain works every day to:
- Provide free support services to individuals and families
- Advocate for federal and local funding for ALS research and care
- Create space for stories that show the strength of this community
- Push for policies that improve the quality of life for people living with ALS
But we can’t do it alone.
You Can Be Part of the Movement
We invite you to join us—whether you’re here in the Rockies or watching from anywhere across the country. Here’s how you can make an impact today:
- Advocate: Use your voice to raise awareness and push for change.
- Donate: Your contributions directly support ALS families in our region.
- Share: Spread the word on social media, especially throughout May.
- Walk with us: Join a local event or start your own fundraiser.
Lighting Up the City, Fueling the Fight
Times Square is known for its energy and its power to captivate. This ALS Awareness Month, we brought the faces and voices of ALS into that space—and in doing so, we sent a message to the world:
ALS won’t be ignored.
The fight won’t stop.
And our community will never walk alone.
Together, we light the way forward.
Together, we end ALS.
