A Legacy of Love: Kipp & Michelle Sheets Honoring Mark Sheets
“What a great honor to be a part of the Legacy Circle.”
For Kipp and Michelle Sheets, supporting ALS United Rocky Mountain is not just a charitable commitment; it is a deeply personal mission rooted in family, community, and 25 years of unwavering dedication.
Their journey began in early 2000 when Kipp’s younger brother, Mark Sheets, was diagnosed with ALS. Mark, a beloved Greeley resident, first noticed something was wrong during a golf tournament when he struggled to grip his club. The diagnosis that followed changed everything for their family.

Even as Mark’s health declined, his love for golf and his community never wavered. Determined to support him and raise awareness, Kipp and Michelle organized a benefit golf tournament to help with medical expenses. What began as an act of love quickly became something much bigger: the ALS–Mark Sheets Memorial Tournament.
2025 marked the 25th Anniversary of that tournament, now a tradition of remembrance, compassion, and community in Northern Colorado.

Over the years, the tournament has grown into a powerful source of support for families facing ALS. Proceeds benefit ALS United Rocky Mountain, helping provide critical care services, advocacy, and research funding for individuals and families in the region. For Kipp and Michelle, supporting local ALS care matters deeply. They have seen firsthand how essential community-based support is when a family is navigating this devastating disease.
“The support we received from our families, friends, community, and members of Greeley Country Club has helped Michelle and me continue working to help make a difference within our community in Northern Colorado.”
The Memorial is more than a fundraiser; it is a gathering of a “family of support.” Sponsors return year after year. Volunteers give their time generously. Friends travel from across the country to participate. One of Mark’s closest friends has never missed the event. That loyalty and commitment embody the spirit that has sustained the tournament for 25 years.
“We are proud of our sponsors who continue to support our efforts in the fight against ALS. It’s important to recognize the volunteers who spend their valuable time as well because we can’t do ALS fundraisers without our sponsors and volunteers.”

Through decades of involvement, Kipp and Michelle have found affirmation in watching their community show up again and again. The continued growth of the tournament, the visibility it brings to ALS, and the tangible support it provides to families have reinforced their decision to give.
What gives them hope for the future is the strength of that same community, the sponsors, volunteers, families, and advocates who refuse to let the fight against ALS fade. The progress being made in research and advocacy, combined with the deep commitment of those involved, reminds them that change is possible.
Choosing ALS United Rocky Mountain as the steward of their giving was a natural decision. For over 25 years, the organization has stood alongside families in the Rocky Mountain region, providing trusted support, advocacy, and connection. Being part of the Legacy Circle ensures their commitment continues beyond today, supporting families for years to come.
The ALS–Mark Sheets Memorial Tournament is a lasting tribute to Mark’s life and courage. It is proof that while ALS may take much, it cannot diminish the power of love, friendship, and community. On the greens of Northern Colorado, that legacy continues to grow stronger each year.
