Letters of Intent for ALS Research Funding Accepted April 15 – May 15

ALS United Rocky Mountain, in partnership with the ALS Network, proudly announces letters of intent for ALS research funding will be accepted April 15 – May 15, 2025. ALS United Rocky Mountain fosters innovation in ALS research, including basic, translational, and causal research. ALS United Rocky Mountain, on behalf of ALS Network, a United States-based non-profit organization, requests the submission of letters of intent (LOIs) for unique projects designed to solve critical problems in ALS using innovative technology or methods. The projects should be bold, imaginative, and lead to advances in the field. If successful, following a one-year review, there may be the opportunity for a second year of funding. Please submit your Letters of Intent here: https://alsnetwork.org/research/apply-for-funding/.

“As part of our growing ALS Research Innovation Initiative, we are pleased to announce a public request for letters of intent,” said Suzanne Schrag, ALS United Rocky Mountain CEO. “This is an important step in driving creative and novel ideas for improved ALS prevention strategies, treatments, and cures. It also represents the power of collaboration, with ALS United member organizations jointly funding this essential initiative.”

ALS United members lead nonprofit support for scientists studying ALS by building partnerships across the ALS research ecosystem to directly fund global research initiatives.

The ALS Research Innovation Initiative provides grants to fund novel, scientifically rigorous ideas that can transform our understanding of ALS. With oversight provided by a Scientific Advisory Committee in partnership with a Community Research Committee, a nimble “pitch session” approach to vet unique projects accelerates the application and award process, moving promising science forward faster. Our unique niche in the research funding landscape helps propel up-and-coming, disruptive ideas to later phases in the discovery pipeline.

The 2025 application process will open on April 15. You can submit your proposal via the online submission form by clicking here. For questions about the process or the ALS Research Innovation Initiative, email research@alsnetwork.org.

While all types of ideas are welcome, applicants are encouraged to leverage existing ALS research resources (e.g. ALL ALS, Project MiNE, Answer ALS, PRO-ACT, NEALS Biorepository, Target ALS Cores, etc.) for their applications.

ALS United Rocky Mountain thanks you for continuing to discover more about ALS and how we can stop, prevent, and cure ALS.
