“Stitching Strength” by Dr. Richard Bedlack

Event Recap: “Stitching Strength” Film Screening & Live Q&A with Dr. Richard Bedlack
Date: August 2, 2025

On August 2nd, ALS United Rocky Mountain proudly hosted a deeply moving and thought-provoking in-person screening of the new documentary Stitching Strength, followed by a live virtual Q&A with Dr. Richard Bedlack, one of the most recognized and beloved figures in the ALS community. Held as part of our ongoing commitment to education, awareness, and advocacy, this event brought together patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and advocates for an afternoon of inspiration and learning.

The documentary offered a powerful glimpse into Dr. Bedlack’s unconventional approach to ALS care — one that celebrates individuality, dignity, and patient-led decision-making. Through poignant storytelling, Stitching Strength follows several individuals living with ALS and highlights the impact of personalized care and hopeful exploration of alternative treatments. The film beautifully captured the essence of what it means to live with ALS, not just endure it.

Following the screening, attendees had the unique opportunity to engage directly with Dr. Bedlack during a live Q&A session. True to his reputation, Dr. Bedlack was insightful, approachable, and refreshingly candid. He shared stories from behind the scenes of the documentary, updates on current ALS research (including the work of ALSUntangled), and words of encouragement for the community. His message was clear: the future of ALS care must be driven by curiosity, compassion, and a willingness to challenge the status quo.

The event not only educated but also brought comfort and hope to those affected by ALS. We are so grateful to Dr. Bedlack for sharing his time and wisdom with our community, and to all who attended and contributed to such a meaningful afternoon.
